The Ajijic Tianguis

The Ajijic Tianguis

A common activity that takes place, where Ajijic is no exception; one day a week a tianguis is placed in one of the streets of the town, in order to offer you fresh fruits and vegetables for sale, a place to have breakfast or just to distract you.

Ajijic’s tianguis, on Wednesdays, is located on Revolucion Street, which could be considered the beginning of town. Or an easier way for locals to locate it is next to the field or the “Lienzo charro”.

Unlike the Chapala tianguis that is held on Mondays, the length of the streets of the Ajijic market is considerably less, however, it has a great variety of businesses and products of different types, where you will find a little bit of everything.

As we know, Ajijic is a more picturesque town and in some ways with more culture, this can be seen in its streets, its people and its traditions, and is also reflected in its Wednesday market.

Throughout the tianguis the local community’s handcrafted products stand out, from the famous and colorful alebrijes, crafts such as bracelets and necklaces, to ornamental objects of very good quality, which will brighten and fill the walls of your house with life.

The local tianguis have formed an identity among locals and visitors, thanks to the products sold there. Taking a tejuino and walking the short, but very pleasant route is an excellent option to feel the Ribereño spirit.
